Medical Administrators/Clinical Directors/Directors of Medical Services (DMS)/Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
These qualified doctors work mainly in healthcare leadership, hospital management, clinical governance, policy, quality and safety and service planning rather than primarily providing direct patient care. They often act as a bridge between clinicians, hospital executives and government health departments and play an important role in workforce planning, hospital operations, patient safety and accreditation and compliance.
Many medical administrators are Fellows of Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA).
